The Story of SimSim
Hi, my name is Sima, but kids call me SimSim.
I’m the founder of SimSim Art Lab, where I bring together two things I’ve always loved:
Art and working with young children.
There’s something so special about seeing the excitement on a child’s face when an idea comes to life, the pride they feel when they make something of their own, and the wonderful ideas that come from their imaginations. These little moments inspire me every day and are a big part of why I love what I do.
At SimSim Art Lab, I want every child to feel welcome, encouraged, and free to explore their own ideas. I believe art is about so much more than the finished piece. It’s about giving children the confidence to try something new, find their own way, express themselves, and simply have fun along the way.
The Studio Journey
SimSim Art Lab began with a small but meaningful step. I started my art classes in a room at Grace Church, where I had the opportunity to meet my first SimSim families and watch the idea begin to grow. What started as a small space filled with art, laughter, and little creative hands gradually grew into something bigger.
Today, I’m grateful to have a studio of my own, where I can bring the SimSim Art Lab vision to life every day. None of this would have been possible without the trust, support, and encouragement of the families who have been part of the SimSim journey.
My background in art and design, combined with my knowledge of early childhood education, helps me shape experiences that are both creative and thoughtfully tailored to young children. I don't just want to teach children how to paint or create. I want to create a space where they feel comfortable exploring, getting messy, and enjoying the process.
In every class, I want children to feel that there is room for their own ideas and ways of doing things. I believe art gives children the freedom to experiment, make mistakes, and see where their creativity takes them.
Most importantly, I want every child who walks through our doors to know that their ideas matter. There is no single “right” way to create, and I love giving children the space to make something that feels truly their own.
Together, with the children's help, we can make the world a more creative, kind, and joyful place.
